mixing your metals

Try something new this fall & mix up your metals.

I LOVE mixing my metals. I gravitate towards rose gold, so I like breaking up too much of one metal by adding in a few other pieces of a different metal. Like a silver bracelet, with a set of gold bangles, and then a rose gold bracelet.

Here are some ideas....

All the metals in one piece options....

an absolute STUNNER

an amazing bang for your buck

I have been wearing this one nearly every day since I got it.
It's a dainty one!!!

Do you like mixing your metals?
What's your favorite metal?

are you competitive?

Any chance, and I mean literally, ANY chance, MattyB & I get to turn something into a competition, we do.
We are ridiculous at times. It could be, who gets home quicker from the grocery store (when we are driving separate) OR who gets to the door quicker...seriously anything. We turn it into a competition.

(This should go without saying, but we are HUGE gamers. I'm not referring to the gambling games. Dominoes, card games, board games - we play them all)

So when Stella & Dot initiated a "Summer Challenge" for us stylists, it was on like donkey kong!

My full time job never issues me challenges with amazing rewards at the end, does yours???

That's just something else to love about my job as a stylist with Stella & Dot! They are always giving us extra perks or rewards. Incentive trips, free jewelry, free bags....the list goes on!

This challenge had 4 different tiers. The first tier had to be achieved by August 4th. (The incentive period ran from July 22nd until August 31st). The other 3 tiers just had to be achieved by August 31st. I of course carry the mentality of "go big or go home". I had my sights set on all 4 tiers.

I am happy to say that, I totally ROCKED the challenge.

In all reality, the 4th tier (the one I had my eyes set on) would be equal to me running a half marathon with Sarah and beating her. Haha, very unrealistic!

Each tier was contingent on retail sales. The only difference between the top 2 tiers was promoting & sponsoring. So while I got the sales I needed, I did not have the "team" that was required :(

Still kinda bums me out that more gals are not jumping on this fabulous path to financial freedom, freedom from a cubicle, or just extra income each month :)

Okay - so here were the prizes!!! I can't wait to hear what you think!

Prize level 1: the Neeya earrings

Prize level 2: the Neeya bracelet

Prize level 3: the Paris Market Tote

Prize level 4: the Silver Pegasus

Now do you see why I wanted to hit level 4?? That necklace is lusciously fabulous!

Much like marathon training, I am kicking it in to high gear from now until December. I am looking to add 4 more ambitious, fashion loving gals to my team. Lets sprint to the finish together & wrap up 2013 with you having a plan for success in 2014.

Seriously, tell me your goals for 2014 & I will help you develop a plan to achieve them. It really does boil down to small, positive changes each day.

Oh, and if you found yourself loving any of those pieces - you can get them for free or half off, starting October 1st. Quantities are limited, so shoot me an email & let me know if you want to reserve one!

little girls love fashion too, right?

If you read often, then you know I often post about Stella & Dot. I can't help it - I LOVE my job :)

scarves - the essence of versatility

I have to admit: I never was a big fan of wearing a scarf as of last year. I knew of only 1 way to wear it & it was only suitable for the fall / winter in my mind. Not a year round piece.

Yes - I must live in the back woods of Florida, or under a rock. What was I thinking?!?!

Case & point: meet Stella & Dot's scarves.

While there are tons of ways to wear a scarf the traditional way, here's a quick video of 10 ways....

Let's discuss some "out of the box ways"!

Way #1: a sarong
(this is our adorable CEO, Jessica Herrin - google her)

Did you catch how easy that was to wear it as a sarong!?

Way #2: a dress / vest

So all you really do here is add the belt to make it a dress.
Omit the belt, and the front opens like a vest :)
(Picture taken from Stella & Dot's instagram feed of style! Just include #stelladotstyle and your picture may be chosen!)

Way #3: a skirt

Leave it to my interior designing guru friend, Emily to make it a skirt!

Here's a close up:

Brilliant!!!!
I love how it has a bohemian vibe to it.

That is only 3 'out of the box' ways to wear our scarves. The possibilities really are endless.

I'll be doing another post this week on options for how to wear as a TOP!!!!!

Here are some important facts:
  • the scarf measures 40" x 80"
  • it is 100% viscose (need to clean it? dry clean it)
  • it is $59

For $59 you get a garment that will literally take you from spring to summer to winter to fall.

That's one amazing piece to add to your wardrobe, in my opinion.

Which pattern is your favorite!?

How do you feel about scarves? Love them or leave them?

ELLE mag, y'all!

That's the Soiree Ring in the latest issue of ELLE magazine :)

I LOVE when Stella & Dot gets featured!

Seeing the brand regularly featured in fashion magazines is what intrigued me & ultimately got me to join. We obviously have a fabulous PR team that sends out samples of our line to editors & celebrities....but it's up to them to feature us and wear us. (We do not pay.)

If you're looking to start up a fun career - with the flexibility we all want & need - I'd love to hear from you. I am looking to join forces with fashion forward women, and maybe you would be a great fit.

Shoot me an email & I'll be in touch.

no purse, no problem?

I just caught wind of this whole "no purse" rule with the NFL!

I can see the positives behind it - but good grief, being told you can not carry your beloved Kate Spade or Louis while rooting on your home team....that's just heartache.

Smart on the NFL's part though, since bags must be plastic ("see through"), their collection of plastic totes will be booming in sales.

As much as I do not want being to be told what bag / purse I can or cannot carry - I sure as heck do not want to carry a clear one that everyone can see in to!

Plus it's UGLY.

What are your thoughts???

So here is what you CAN bring:
  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12.” (Official NFL team logo clear plastic tote bags will be available through club merchandise outlets or at nflshop.com/allclear),
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bags.
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.

The policy goes on to read:
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Fans will continue to be able to enjoy their tailgate activities in the parking lots and to do so with greater safety and the knowledge that their entry into the stadium will be smoother and faster. They also will continue to be able to carry items allowed into the stadium, such as binoculars, cameras, and smart phones.

As the 2013 season approaches, we encourage fans to visit individual NFL team websites for specific stadium information.

Luckily I have a solution for you!

The Chelsea Tech Wallet:

Big enough to fit your phone (I have the Samsung Galaxy S3), your credit cards, some cash, and a lipgloss; and small enough to pass the NFL's new rule. Plus the strap is removable.

The wallet comes in these fabulous prints & colors:

So for those of us with babies, either stay home or invest in one of these....a "diaper wallet"

It may still be a little larger than what's allowed as their definition of a "clutch" - but you get the idea. I have one of these for BittyBeau & it works like a charm! I can easily fit 4 diapers in it, & case of wipes. The bag itself rolls out into a changing mat.

being an entrepreneur....or something like that

I hit my first "Stellaversary"! I have been with Stella & Dot for one year now, and I love it!!!

This company is seriously a dream for me. I have been able to take my longest desire of owning my own boutique and meld it with my life. I think that some skeptics thought I may give up, but I like to think I blew their expectations (or lack thereof), out of the water.

Here's the deal - MattyB & BittyBeau have always been my first priority. Pretty much I put my needs on the backburner as many moms do! (Why do we do this? We all know it's not healthy). Regardless, my life as a stylist is something separate from my men that I love so much. This is a time for me, with no mommy guilt.

I battled with having "girl's night" because of the mommy guilt. The guilt of leaving the baby while I'm off having a good time. I kind of re-programmed my mind with Stella & Dot. This is a way for me to financially contribute to our household!

Enough about all that though....

What other company do you know of that:
1. allows you to give yourself a raise each month
2. sets up totally obtainable incentive programs (free trip to the BAHAMAS for you & a guest!)
3. equips you with the free training to grow your business
4. lets you set your workhours

I still work full time. I haven't "quit my day job". It's nice to know though, that I have the potential of doing my Stella & Dot job as my "day job".

So here's my question: what could you or would you do with extra income?

Here's a little video of some fellow stylists & what their "blue card" has paid for:

the one where i needed a new cami

Tuesdays & Thursdays are my days to "dress up". I use that term verrryyyy loosely, so please keep an open mind.

Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays, are my days to work from home, spend time with BittyBeau & pretend to do the whole "home making" thing.

So this is a "what I wore, Tuesday" post!

Pay attention to the awesome photography by MattyB. You couldn't pay for pictures this good.

I much prefer this picture - softer lighting, more flattering....but MattyB said
we needed "better lighting" than our dimly lit home theatre....

So a photo opp by the filing cabinets & under fluorescent was clearly the better choice.
(hope you picked up on the sarcasm)

Well hello peek-a-boo back!
Clearly, I need a new black camisole.
Does ANYONE make a swoop back one???
Seriously, if you have a source, help a sister out.

so long designer bag, hello diaper bag

I'll be the first to admit, I'm a total snob about handbags. It's not my intention to be - for some reason, somewhere along the way (ahem, totally my dad's fault), I developed an affinity for designer bags.

I do read the Bag Snob regularly.

However, BB has put quite the whammy on my love of handbags. When it's just he & I on the town, it's A MILLION TIMES easier to just tote my wristlet in his diaper bag.

At the moment, this is his diaper bag:
Boxy Backpack by Petunia Pickle Bottom in Black Current

Go read up on it HERE but it's such a no hassle bag! I can wear it as a backpack, messenger, or over the shoulder. It has a built in changing pad, lots of pockets....just super easy to use. I took it on our trip to Vegas & it worked well.

(The changing mat REALLY comes in handy for those public restrooms that have NO DIAPER CHANGING station. Ugh so frustrating.)

So back to where I was headed originally....I've had to abandon my bags & now revert to just the diaper bag with my wristlet. Unless MattyB is also in tow, and then I can totally do up the handbag holding.

Stella & Dot recently launched some new totes....I'm not going to lie, I was totally skeptical of this new endeavor. Mainly because I have to order samples and I was totally cringing with having to purchase a tote that I despised only to promote it as something to buy to all my clients!

Alas, oh ye of little faith. Our design team made a believer out of me! Now I'm toying with the idea of changing BB's diaper bag to one of these! The prints are perfection for summer & they all have a "wipe clean" fabric.

Here is the How Does She Do It tote...
the model is wearing it with the zipper portion
snapped down

look at that organization - even a water bottle pocket!
(There is also an outside zipper pocket)

Then there are these 2 behemoths....

The Getaway Weekender

Did you catch that!?!
It unzips to EXPAND to a taller tote!!!

La Totale

More organization! I'm just apparently a sucker for this water bottle pocket!

Water bottle pockets - - the perfect idea for any bag! This means that virtually any tote can be used as a diaper bag, gym bag, marathon shopping day bag, etc!

Go check out all the prints!

What is your "go to" diaper bag/gym bag/tote bag!?

What do you think of the new Stella & Dot totes?
