scarves - the essence of versatility

I have to admit: I never was a big fan of wearing a scarf as of last year. I knew of only 1 way to wear it & it was only suitable for the fall / winter in my mind. Not a year round piece.

Yes - I must live in the back woods of Florida, or under a rock. What was I thinking?!?!

Case & point: meet Stella & Dot's scarves.

While there are tons of ways to wear a scarf the traditional way, here's a quick video of 10 ways....

Let's discuss some "out of the box ways"!

Way #1: a sarong
(this is our adorable CEO, Jessica Herrin - google her)

Did you catch how easy that was to wear it as a sarong!?

Way #2: a dress / vest

So all you really do here is add the belt to make it a dress.
Omit the belt, and the front opens like a vest :)
(Picture taken from Stella & Dot's instagram feed of style! Just include #stelladotstyle and your picture may be chosen!)

Way #3: a skirt

Leave it to my interior designing guru friend, Emily to make it a skirt!

Here's a close up:

Brilliant!!!!
I love how it has a bohemian vibe to it.

That is only 3 'out of the box' ways to wear our scarves. The possibilities really are endless.

I'll be doing another post this week on options for how to wear as a TOP!!!!!

Here are some important facts:
  • the scarf measures 40" x 80"
  • it is 100% viscose (need to clean it? dry clean it)
  • it is $59

For $59 you get a garment that will literally take you from spring to summer to winter to fall.

That's one amazing piece to add to your wardrobe, in my opinion.

Which pattern is your favorite!?

How do you feel about scarves? Love them or leave them?

what i wore sunday....on wednesday?

Late to the game, but here is a recap of my Sunday fashion!

Dress is from Francesca's
Shoes are Tory Burch

I have yet to find a Tory Burch bag that I LOVE - but man do I LOVE those flats!
Best investment.

The necklace is the Sutton by Stella & Dot

Way 1:

Way 2:
remove the hook & remove the sparkle strand

Way 3:
with the hook & without the sparkle strand

Way 4:
sparkle strand by itself

Way 5:
this is how I wore it - just remove the hook

So here's the thing, there are TWO winners!!!!!

I used Random.org & came up with winner #1......

But then I was torn as to if Random's website was the best thing to use.....so while little man was napping, I wrote everyone's name down (the appropriate amount of times based on entries earned), and put the names in a box.

I then had MattyB choose the winner

Winner #2 is VIXIE12

Danielle Own & Vixie 12, please EMAIL ME fashionablyfitfemme@gmail.com

Thanks everyone for entering!!! Stay tuned for more fabulous Stella & Dot giveaways :)

sunday fashion post

I thought I would start a new weekly post "Sunday Fashion"....mainly because Monday through Friday is not worth debuting, & Saturday's are a hit or miss (depending on plans).

I guess on the other days I could show you how to incorporate workout gear with your work attire, and the art of half fixed bedhead hair.
For now though, here's my Sunday attire:
i'm standing awkward...matt's a "one shot" only kind of guy, so don't judge the dress based on my awkwardness

Dress: Coupe via Ideeli
Shoes: Steve Madden via Nordstrom
Necklace: Tasha via Nordstrom

The dress was super simple & plain, so I knew I could do it up with my accessories. This dress is so versatile, it could have easily been paired with a skinny belt, blazer, cropped cardigan, etc. It's such a great color for summer too. And the fabric is perfect for Florida's heat, it's so light weight.

Solid dresses are so versatile. Hope your closet has at least one!
