disney enchanted 10K

I posted about the Disney expo HERE & mentioned how many amazing runs little training I did.

I mean seriously. What the Hades was I thinking?
I have however, been killing it at Pure Barre ;)

And I was running this with my old school running partner, Brittany. We did several races together, back in our "younger" days (ahem, skinnier days) :) We had never done a 10K together....but both of us new that:
A. our time would not be phenomenal
B. we have fun no matter what we are doing

So race start was at 5:30am. Nothing new to me, waking up at the butt crack of dawn. Pure Barre class is at 5:30am, oh & I still have that mini human sleeping in our bedroom that occasionally likes to party between 1am & 4am.

Wake up alarm was at 4:15am....I set MattyB's phone as well. (This was a weekend getaway without the munchkins & I truly thought I was going to over sleep!)

Brittany & I had laid out our costumes the evening before. We went with the villains.....rather than the princess'.

Maleficent (ME)

Ursula (Brittany)

We grabbed our mini Luna bars (hey, thanks goodie bags!) & headed to the start at Epcot.

There were SOOO many people! And it was freezing. But hey, we had our tutus on & were so ready to get this over with.

For whatever reason, Brittany's skirt was all static-y
I mean seriously, get off me!

Lots of people to race past!

Haha, I mean lots of people to race pass us

Fireworks start, and we're off!

Side note, I was NOT thrilled that the first 3 miles of the race were outside of the park :( I mean, I seriously think I would have rathered lap Epcot twice than run outside the park. They did try to provide course entertainment....

Haha, running & snapping a picture.
That's Anna & Elsa on the overpass that we ran under, singing & making it snow.

Each mile marker had a character sign and / or actual characters.
No, it did not take me 41 minutes to run a mile.
It was actually 11:35

There was about a 10 minute gap between each corral release. Or so it seemed. I was corral B, and until about mile 3, we kept hearing the fireworks go off & more corrals released.

Mile 3 let us in to the park - - Norway / China to be exact.

The lines for the characters were RIDICULOUS!
We did a lot of this awkward posing with the character in the background!

So we did a lot of run / walk.
Brittany called it "slogging" :)

We FINALLY finished.
My legs were LEAD around mile 3.
While Pure Barre helps endurance, it did not help condition me for running.
Lol, only running could do that.

At least we didn't die.
At least we finished.

And we got the medal.

Time to EAT!

three for thursday

Just saw this fun news!!!

Here's the headline for you all that don't feel like reading the article:

Rock 'n' Roll Marathon heading to St. Petersburg in 2012

That's exciting!!!
And it definitely adds to my choices of which half marathons to do :)

If you have time...check this out:

If they've done this before, pardon my ignorance for not knowing...but I thought it was the CUTEST thing!

I absolutely stink at drawing.
My stick people are pathetic.
Bubble letters were never my forte.

The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Capitals last night...which means we're going to the next round in the playoffs!!!!

My family & I are HUGE TBL fans.

this of course was pre me marrying matty,
but clearly we're all sporting TBL polos for the family photo op

We attended the Stanley Cup game when TBL won back in 2004. It was definitely my most favorite game ever. Close second would be my birthday in 2003...they had a shut out game, score was 8-0. That was another amazing one.

Holy Hades Ladies (& men)

I got a shout out on Skinny Runner's blog! And then my stats hit an all time record high for visits to my blog, ha! Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!

Mattpew is playing in a golf tournament today & then there's a dinner thing for it that means I'm on my own for dinner. I'm famished & have no idea what I'm hungry for...I hate those days.

I don't know what it is...maybe because I lead such a pathetic life...BUT, race packets excite the bejeebers out of me! I had to pick up mine today for IronGirl on Sunday, and it was like anticipation for Christmas. I really don't know why I do that...because almost every race packet has been such a big let down for me. Womp Womp. I don't know what I'm expecting to find in them though ~ an all expense paid trip to Fiji? I have vacation on the brain...
this gal is on one & I'm super jealous.

I had to go to Fit2Run @ International Plaza to pick up my packet for Sunday...
I had to remind myself "packet pick up only, no shopping"...

I kept repeating my mantra all the way up to the store.

I was an early bird, so there was no headache in getting my packet!
 I beat the rush!

I decided to try out another OnDemand workout once I got home, courtesy of Exercise TV. I went with Stephanie Vitorino's Perfect 10 workout. I think it was the allure of the "info" option on my remote that got me:
"Head to toe, this is the perfect combo of 10 exercises
to give you the perfect workout"

Head to toe in 15 minutes? Yes please!

When I first started the workout, I did NOT have high hopes & really debated turning it off. But then once the actual circuits began, I liked it. It's real quick, 10 circuits, 15 no breaks, a little active recovery, but you definitely work head to toe!

I finished up with 2.3 miles on the treadmill. I was in a hurry to get to my race packet goodies :)

Dexter was wondering where his goodies were...

No Fiji trip, but I was pleasantly surprised by the packet! I'm really looking forward to sampling this:

And this sparked my interest...

I guess there was a "womp womp" with this packet...when I didn't see Florida as a location for the diva race. Fingers are crossed for 2012 locations!
