style spotting on revenge

I can't tell you what brand the clothing was, but I CAN tell you that there was some Stella & Dot spotting on ABC's Revenge!

(Don't be jelly of my killer photog skills!)

LBD styling

Every gal should have an LBD in their wardrobe. You know, that fabulous Little Black Dress that is more reliable than your deodorant. The one that you can turn to for a cocktail party, a wedding, a work dinner, or a date night.

I recently came across this video, and thought it was fabulous. It just goes to show how you can have a few key pieces in your wardrobe, but still look as if you have a new outfit for every day of the year.

There is an easy to use guide HERE for accessorizing your LBD.

In the market for an LBD?

With the holidays quickly approaching, a girl has GOT to be prepared ;)

mixing your metals

Try something new this fall & mix up your metals.

I LOVE mixing my metals. I gravitate towards rose gold, so I like breaking up too much of one metal by adding in a few other pieces of a different metal. Like a silver bracelet, with a set of gold bangles, and then a rose gold bracelet.

Here are some ideas....

All the metals in one piece options....

an absolute STUNNER

an amazing bang for your buck

I have been wearing this one nearly every day since I got it.
It's a dainty one!!!

eating a grotesque amount

Ha, lovely title, eh?

Friday night MattyB & I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. He surprised me with a date night! Woohoo! Well, actually I knew we were going to have a date night, but I did not know where. So my gracious MIL came by Friday after work to watch Beau-man for us.

MattyB took me to The Melting Pot :) I had laid on the hints pretty heavy, that I really wanted to go there. Our last experience there was nearly 3 years ago. I am always a fan of the place, but he wrote it off after our last visit. Why? Not because of gross food or poor service, nope....he wrote it off because they ran out of pineapple. Yup. Out of pineapple. This particular location is next door to a Publix (grocery store) - so he definitely asked our server if they could just go to Publix & get some. The server was not amused.

So back to our Friday night date. If you are into fondue, you would LOVE this place.

We opted to 'go big or go home' so we did the 4 course meal. Cheese fondue, salad, meat, and then dessert. Here is what we ordered:

Cheddar Cheese Fondue Aged, medium-sharp cheddar and Emmenthaler Swiss cheeses, lager beer, garlic and seasonings.
You get dippers for the cheese:
His & Hers salad
He went with the house, I went with the mushroom. (Side note, the restaurant used to make this amazing mushroom salad with an Italian Parmesan dressing. They slowly took it off the menu, but would still make it upon request - and then finally, they did it away with it entirely. Friday night I was able to get the salad style, but the dressing is now obsolete :( It was the most amazing's so sad!)
Classic (meat portion)
For the meat, you get to choose which cooking broth you want to use.
We went with:
Coq Au Vin Burgundy wine infused with fresh herbs, spices and mushrooms.
The meat plate was a nice variety:
Angus beef
Sirloin (marinated in teriyaki)
Herb crusted chicken
BBQ pork (I opted for extra shrimp rather than this)
Along with the meat, you get veggies - potatoes, broccoli, and mushroom caps.
They bring out a slew of sauces, my favorite is the green goddess. So good with the mushroom caps!
I love mushrooms.
Bananas Foster Bananas and a hint of cinnamon swirled in white chocolate create the fondue version of this favorite dessert. And, we didn’t forget the heat as we flambĂ© it tableside.
We wanted to try a new chocolate fondue, so we went with this one.
I don't even like bananas.
You get bite size pieces of these to dip:
chocolate chip cookie
Our server was awesome. We had told her about the pineapple incident at the start of the evening....she remembered & went ahead & brought out extra pineapple for Matt.
I have been horrible with taking pictures of us lately. My phone has mainly pictures of Beau.
But I did manage to snap a few....
Blurry MattyB & his salad....
(the cheese was gone by now)

Apparently there is a method you need to follow when cooking your meat.
I thought it was just poke, stick, and drop.

Melting Pot foul.
He used my skewers to cook the rest of his meat.
I was going too slow & he was hungry.
Of course, a little fashion....
Hone in on the clutch here. Not my white legs.
It's the new Avalon clutch.
Rose gold hardware!!!
And the wristlet portion that you use to carry it, detaches & turns into a wrap bracelet!!!
Headless woman shots are so the latest rage.
I've been pretty addicted to the Somervell necklace as of late.
And the Phoenix necklace pops an extra punch!
Case & point.
The Somervell with the Christina necklace, spotted on me earlier this week.

Haha, oh gosh, no pictures of us together to commemorate the night! Anyone else lose a ton of brain cells with child bearing?

Needless to say we were ridiculously full after eating all of that yummy food!

5 for friday

TGIF! This has been a crazy, busy week for me. I have been wanting to go to bed every night at 8pm. Keeping up with my toddler on the days I work from home are exhausting! He is so curious, so adventurous, and Mr. Independent. And he is definitely not one for negotiation!

So let's kick off this sleep filled weekend with a 5 for Friday post!

#1: To everyone that entered my Stella & Dot giveaway for the Fall Fashionista event, the winners were notified by email. EVERYONE that entered received an email - if you didn't get one, let me know! Send me an email!

#2: Today is MattyB & I's 5 year anniversary. It's crazy to look back & see what all has happened in 5 years. Each year, we opt to get a house gift rather than individual gifts. Last year, we got a new couch. We try to keep in step with the whole traditional / modern anniversary gifts based on the number. This year it is WOOD. Aside from a new shelf, we have no ideas. If we were doing individual gifts, I could have gone with a humidor for him, but that was his Christmas gift 2 years ago.
So a new shelf it is!

#3: Continuing on this 'wood' theme, I have been on the mad hunt for cowboy boots. MattyB declared last night that I can go ahead & get the ones I have been eyeing....followed with 'Happy Anniversary'! In thinking about that, that actually works!!! Cowboy boots have wood on them!!! So there you go, cowboy boots trump a new shelf.

#4: I am helping raise awareness for women's cancer research this month. There is a boutique of items that are being sold, where proceeds are being donated to the Noreen Fraser Foundation for women's cancer research. If you feel led, you can spread the word on the boutique or make a purchase.

The HOPE necklace, pictured below, is absolutely precious!!! It is SO delicate, all 3 metals, and just a great little necklace. The picture really does not do it justice.

#5:  I just liked this quote that was posted on Facebook this morning & wanted to share....
I've been feeling like I am under so much scrutiny lately, so this was a nice little read.

new to 'accessorizing'? start here

I was browsing through updated information on my site and came across a 6 to mix boutique.

I thought it would make a great post for anyone 'new' to the world of accessories - or for anyone that finds the whole idea of 'accessorizing' overwhelming.

Step 1: Find a good statement piece
This could be a statement necklace or a statement bracelet. Something that is BIG and BOLD. Something that makes a statement. The great thing about statement pieces is that they can be dressed up or dressed down. They can be paired with your LBD for a cocktail party, or paired with your tshirt & jeans.
Here are some ideas for you.....
The Sutton necklace. I did a post about the ways of wearing this necklace HERE.
Versatility is always a plus when making a purchase!
The Mae necklace. A total steal at only $49.
Wear it alone OR pack a bigger punch by layering it with the Somervell & Christina.

The Kahlo Bracelet. Mixed metals? Yes please!
LOVE this piece.

The Petra Bracelet. So sparkly & shiny.
Screams rocker glam chic.

Step 2: An arm party makes anything better
Stacking bracelets is another way to make a statement - but perhaps in a more subdued way. Different strokes for different folks. I love layering bracelets and have found that depending on the occasion, I'm more apt to stack my wrist versus wearing 1 large statement piece. (Why wear 1 when you can wear 5?!)
How do you know which bracelets to stack? If you like 'em, stack 'em! Anything goes.
Here are some ideas.....
Opt to stay with gold tones
(L to R)

Stay sparkley
(L to R)

Flash some rose gold hues
(L to R)

 Mix your metals
(L to R)

Step 3: A little sparkle can go a long way
Invest in a sparkle piece. Big sparkle or little sparkle, you really can't go wrong. Sparkle can be dressed up or down, and really is a must have piece in any jewelry box.
Here are some ideas.....

Step 4: Get an everyday piece, like a keepsake
If you come from a long line of women that love jewelry, chances are good you already have a delicate cross necklace from your great grandmother, or maybe a set of pearl earrings from your mom. Maybe your were gifted a keepsake piece from a relative, for a special occasion? These are great pieces to wear every day.
Here are some ideas....

Initial Charm

I am a huge fan of keepsake necklaces! They make such a great, thoughtful gift.
Commemorating a birth, a marriage, a graduation, a birthday, or any other monumental occasion in life.
Check out all the charms & create your own with this easy step by step guide HERE.

Step 5: Be sure to have some essential pieces that are silver or gold or both!
An essential base is always good. Simple pieces that can in essence, go with any outfit. Yes, the keepsake pieces can serve for this....but here are few other pieces.

 Valor Pendant

Step 6: Get a reliable 'go to' stud
Seriously, as of late, I wear studs every day. Mainly because I'm on the phone so much there is no "clanking" of my earring hitting the phone - but more so because my toddler can not grab hold of them and YANK.
These first two are my 'go to' ones.

So, did this help you formulate any kind of ideas?
Feel overwhelmed, or underwhelmed?
Let me know if you have questions!

In the mean time, here's a chance to WIN some of these pieces.....the giveaway for that gift certificate ends the 9th!!!! ENTER HERE
