I had enough time to reapply the deodorant before racing off to see Matty play softball. He's on a Monday night men's league through our church. So I got to gab with the girls in the stand, while he got his game on.

I was never good at softball. I played one season. It was a great effort on my part (in my opinion). They put me in the outfield behind first base (I always got confused if it was right or left field), because I was the only one willing to run after the ball. Matty & 2 other friends of ours, Tom & Andrew, used to make me do batting practice before the game. Poor guys tried to help as much as they could, but it really was hopeless.

Did you play, or do you currently play, competitive sports?

I need to flipping register for a half...just to have the date in my mind of when I need to be "trained" by. I keep talking about it!

I'm considering running the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon in October. It's start time is 10:30PM! Crazy.

Have you ever run a night race?

If I wuss out, there's the Women's Running Magazine Half Marathon in November.

I still think this Everest Challenge looks super fun! But I missed the boat on it.

So today starts my official half marathon training. Although, the plan is only 10 weeks...so I'm not sure if that makes sense to start it now?

Any opinions on that??

Today is the "easy run"...it calls for 4 miles at a 10:30 pace. It seems slow to me...but I guess that's why it's called the "easy run".

Incase you missed my posts from the weekend, because you have a life:

The End

I ran the Women's 1/2 in St. Pete last year. That was a good race. The OUC 1/2 Marathon is in downtown Orlando. It's a pretty cheap race ($45-55) and is through the neighborhoods surrounding downtown Orlando. I've run it before and it's a good race.

I want to sign up for the Wine & Dine race, but the price and the time is keeping me from doing it. I don't stay up late often so it would be hard for me to finish a race around midnight!

I ran the inaugural Wine & Dine as my first half last year - it was great! There were some logistical nightmares post-race but from what I've been reading, they've moved the finish line and it looks like they've improved the situation. I would definitely recommend it. It's nice not to have to wake up at the crack of dawn for once!

The one thing I will say, however, is to run a few evening long runs to get a feel for how you'll have to fuel for it. I felt that was the most difficult part, you know, aside from the actual running of the race :)

Sign up for one! I felt like I had so much more focus with running as soon as I had a real goal and deadline. I've never run a night race but I would love to--such a different atmosphere I'm sure!

I ran Wine and Dine AND the Women's Half last year. Women's Half was definitely better but Wine and Dine was still fun. If you wuss out of those, there's always the OUC Half on December 4 or 5. That was a great race too!
